Haslemere and the surrounding villages are property hot spots for buyers and investors. The sales team at Keats Estate Agents specialise in marketing all types of property, from large family homes through to quaint character cottages – but how do they efficiently manage what can often be a stressful time for buyers and sellers?
In our latest blog, Haslemere Sales Directors Adrian Hardwick and Wills Papworth share their thoughts on everything from customer care through to their knowledge of the local property market.
Q: Why are you so passionate about the property industry?
Adrian: I became an estate agent in 1981 and for me the most important aspect has always been to help people fulfil their dream, whether it is to find them their ideal home or to help them sell up so that they are in a position to move forward with a purchase. I love this aspect of my role as it is wonderful when I see clients achieve the lifestyle they were dreaming of.
Wills: I have worked in property for more than 15 years, some of that spent with large corporate estate agents. For me estate agency is all about providing fantastic customer care. At Keats we look after our clients and build trust so they have peace of mind that we can deal with any issues which may arise.
Q: How do you smooth out the complex buying and selling process?
Wills: We make the process work as efficiently for our clients as possible, by ensuring things run smoothly without any hassle. It’s important to us that our clients enjoy the process. We keep our clients well informed every step of the way.
Adrian: Once an offer is accepted, we go on to provide support right through to completion. We liaise with all parties and keep things moving to reach the end goal quickly and professionally.
Q: How different is the industry today?
Adrian: Everyone has their own reasons for buying or selling and from the outset we take the time to understand our client’s requirements. There is a misconception that property sales are all based on price. Today’s market is very different and while we always look to achieve the best price, there are other pressures on estate agents. People lead such busy lives and there is often time pressure when it comes to selling a property. People need to meet much tighter deadlines to suit their lifestyles. We have to keep complex chains moving and it takes time and careful liaison.
Q: Can you provide an overview of the local property market?
Adrian: The market is currently very active at £1mil upwards and we are finding buyers for this price bracket coming through regularly. We find that most buyers are in a 15 to 20-mile radius of Haslemere. Some are even renting to ensure they are in the best position to buy when a property in a prime location comes to market with Keats, such as within walking distance of the town centre, near the station or one of our fantastic local schools.
Q: What does your current property portfolio offer?
Wills: Our property portfolio is exciting as we are marketing a real mix of character properties and modern homes. Many of our properties feature extended open plan kitchens which are in demand. All of the homes are of high quality and there is something to suit all tastes and lifestyles. We have some stunning high-end properties, along with substantial family homes, properties with character, retirement homes and more.
